   Practice Guidelines

  • When entering the practice room conversations need to be minimized out of respect to the teacher, your fellow practitioners and the practice.
  • Arrive early for your class. The school is open 15 minutes prior to the start of each class. There is a 5-10 period grace period if you are late.
  • Shoes and food including water bottles should be left outside of the pratice room. Cell phones should be turned off. There are no expections.
  • If you arrive late and during the chant enter the practice room as quietly as possible out of respect to the others in the class.
  • Physical adjustments should not be requested. When given it is at the sole discretion of the teacher only. This is not the focus of the teaching.
  • Teaching is a two-way street. Questions, concerns or issues can be addressed during the class provided they relate to the practice.
  • Do not wear parfumes or noticeable deodorants. Note: You will be not be able to participate if you do not respect this guideline.
  • The gas fireplace heats the practice room creating a condusive environment for practice; reducing the risk of injury and creating more body heat.
  • Drinking water is not permitted. This breaks the flow of the practice and the energy created. Lie down on the mat if you feel unwell.
  • Bring your own towel to wipe off sweaty feet and/or hands. Do not use the meditation blankets for this purpose.
  • Leaving the class early is not recommended or encouraged. Schedule enough time to enjoy and benefit from your class.
  • Personal belongings should be kept near the wall at the front door. Do not scatter your belongings around the room.
  • Yoga is best practiced on an empty stomach. Leave a minimum of 2-3 hours before the class and avoid eating spicy foods.
  • Wear comfortable clothing. Tights, shorts, tanks and t-shirts are suitable. No bikinis or bare chests.
  • For hygienic reasons it is strongly advised you bring your own yoga mat. Clean your own mat your home.
  • Mats are available at the school. A rental fee is applicable when using the mat at TYW.
  • As a courtesy kindly put away all props and blankets you used during the class.
  • After the class you should savour the experience of practice which is diluted with unnecessary talking.

Namaskara,

Heather
